Methodology & Interview Guide

We interviewed 20 Christians who had come to faith in the last five years in Edinburgh. They represent a wide range of demographics - i.e. different sex, an age range from early 20’s to late 80’s, and different socio-economic status. The average length of each interview was 1 hour long and was conducted by two trained researchers. The interviews followed a structured question interview guide.

Each interview was recorded using Otter.ai which also produced a transcript from the recording. All transcript data was passed to an external research team, The Lines Between, who analysed the data to determine what common themes could emerge.

This website gives access to all that are interested how people come to faith in the recent years; and key learnings from the research could offer churches valuable perspectives in missional strategy.
